Fauna & Flora

As I didn't have any pictures for you this week, I thought I would share some images that I have taken in the garden. There's a whole 'nother world out there!

By the way......have you met my sister?

Week 14 - 13.11.06

Christmas is definately cancelled!

Hi everyone,
Thank you for taking the time and interest to visit this week. Unfortunately I have nothing to report or any new pictures......zilch!

I did have some water creep in a few too many places this week. I can cope with it in most areas but it's miserable when it comes in in my bedroom especially when its over the bed! David came and readjusted the polythene and brick weights on Friday and it held up pretty well last night during the downpour.....the bedroom remained dry but it came in through the living room where the chimney has been taken out.

Anyhow, it's all gonna happen this week.....really.....straight up. The steels are arriving next monday (27th) which means the roof HAS to come off this week. I guess the scaffolding will go up today/tomorrow and the roof will be whipped off Wed-Fri. Unless they plan on working over the weekend and the scaffolding arrives Thu/Fri!

Well, I have some last minute bits and pieces to pack, will wack the heating up mid week onwards and get out the thermal undies!

Wish me luck.....catch up with you next week

cya.

Weeks 12&13 / 30th Oct-11th Nov

Hi All,

I've doubled up 2 weeks again, cos there hasn't been much activity and not a lot to tell or show.

Last week, the chimney breast was taken out in the living room and the kitchen has now been fully dismantled. Thought Dsc06321I'd share with you some pictures of my new kitchen.

Today the new electricity cables have been installed. Pretty impressive, they started at 8:00, the power went off at 9:00 (after I had boiled the kettle and made them all a coffee!) and all done and electric back on by 11:00. I have taken quite a few pics as I don't have much else to show. One of the guys was telling me that one of the other poles could do with replacing because of the woodpecker holes. I do hear and see it regularly so I'm not surprised!

Coming up.......
Next week the scaffolding should be erected, the roof off and the steels arriving..... fingers crossed!

Here's what you've all been waiting for.....week 11! Hooray!

I'm afraid I got a bit clicker happy on Sunday, it was a glorious sunny day and I was happy!

Well, as you will see the new electricity pole was inserted. The pictures are taken Dsc06213from the field next door, owned by Mr. Pugh who gave us kind permission to go on his land and reposition it. I was amazed to discover that they only put it into the ground 6' and even more amazed that they just backfill it with soil. Aparently if they set it in concrete the pole with snap cos there's no give when it gets windy, it's true.....you learn something every day! You will also see that I got a private pole dancing session! They are coming back on the 11th to put the new wiring on.

Phil and Henry took down the chimney stack from the living room, so I have another view of the sky! It was nice to be able to go up the scaffolding and take some pics of the surrounding views, gives you an idea of what we will see from the living/kitchen/dining rooms (and balcony).

The kitchen is being dismantled as I write, so I have taken some photos to remind us how to put it back together. I actually don't have any pictures of it so thought it was my last chance to get some!

Oh....and I almost forgot, a pic of Mackintosh taken from the scaffolding. He says he can't wait till it's all finished......nor can I!

By the way......there will be a Christmas, but not as you know it....Jim!

Bye for now.x.
